Transparency & Privacy
We’re serious about two things: telling you the truth about how we choose and monetize recommendations, and protecting your data when you use this site.
Privacy Policy
Who we are: RealHumanProblems.com (“we,” “us,” “our”) provides a problem-first directory of curated solutions. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and your choices.
Information we collect
- Data you provide: newsletter sign-ups, contact messages, and submissions (e.g. “Suggest a Resource,” “Submit a Problem”) including name, email, and the content you submit.
- Usage data: anonymized analytics (pages visited, device/browser info, approximate location) to improve the site.
- Cookies & similar: to run the site, measure usage, and attribute referrals/affiliate commissions. See Cookies.
How we use information
- Operate and improve the site and its search/features.
- Send emails you requested (e.g. our newsletter) and respond to messages.
- Moderate and review submissions; prevent abuse and fraud.
- Measure performance of pages, links, and partner programs.
Legal bases (where applicable)
- Consent (e.g. newsletter opt-in, cookies where required).
- Legitimate interests (site security, product improvement, basic analytics).
- Contract (providing requested services/content).
- Legal obligations (records, compliance requests).
What we share and with whom
We don’t sell personal data. We may share limited data with service providers strictly to operate the site (e.g. email delivery, form storage, analytics, hosting). Typical processors in our stack include: email service (e.g. MailerLite), form/database tools (e.g. Airtable), automation (e.g. Make), web analytics, and hosting/CDN. Each processor is bound by their own privacy terms.
Data retention
We keep data only as long as necessary for the purposes above (or as required by law). You can request deletion. See Your rights.
Cookies & similar technologies
We use:
- Essential cookies for security and basic site functions.
- Analytics cookies to understand traffic and improve content.
- Affiliate/attribution cookies to track referrals and credit commissions (no extra cost to you).
You can manage cookies via your browser settings. Where required, we will present a consent banner for non-essential cookies. Blocking some cookies may affect site functionality.
Affiliate Disclosure
Affiliate links may appear across solution types (Digital, Physical, Services, Communities). We label clearly in context (e.g. “Affiliate link” or “Disclosure”) and include pricing/terms when known. Our editorial judgments come first; monetization never requires a positive review.
Sponsorships & paid listings
We sometimes feature sponsored placements or paid directory listings. Sponsored content is explicitly labeled (e.g. “Sponsored”) and must meet our curation standards. Paid inclusion does not guarantee a top ranking unless the placement is clearly marked as such. We disclose any material connection.
Editorial standards & conflicts
- Problem-first clarity: pages use real language people search for and explain trade-offs.
- Evidence matters: we look for credible reviews, data, or track record.
- Conflicts disclosed: any financial or personal connection is stated in-line.
- Removal policy: tools/services that underperform or mislead may be downgraded or removed.
- Refund visibility: where known, we show refund/trial terms, but third-party policies apply.
Your privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data; to object to certain processing; and to portability of your data. In California, you may have rights to know, delete, and opt-out of “sale”/“sharing” (we don’t sell personal data). In the EU/UK, you may also complain to your data protection authority.
To exercise rights, contact us as described in Contact. We’ll verify your request and respond as required by law.
Data security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we work to keep risk low and review vendors carefully.
Children’s privacy
Our site is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child provided personal data, contact us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this page
We may update this page as our practices or the law changes. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date below. Significant changes may be highlighted on this page.
